The Asian Transport Observatory (ATO) presented in the 2025 Kaohsiung Thematic Workshop on Smart and Sustainable Mobility: Turning Global Strategies into Local Action, held on 22 October 2025 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Organized by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, the workshop convened city officials, development partners, and experts to explore how to build inclusive, climate-friendly mobility systems as the world prepares for the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026–2035).

ATO delivered the presentation: Setting the Scene – Transport Outlook for Asia. Drawing on ATO's extensive datasets and policy tracking, the presentation examined how urbanization, technological innovation, and climate imperatives are reshaping mobility in Asia and the Pacific. Aside from this, ATO delivered a presentation on the transport infrastructure and investment needs of the region up to 2035.

The Kaohsiung workshop provided a platform for local governments to envision the transport systems of 2050 through scenario-building and empathy mapping exercises. ATO's contribution ensured that these visions are grounded in regional evidence and consistent with ongoing work and collaboration with various stakeholders.
