Expert Group Meeting on the Development of A Strategic Plan on Enhancing Rail Interoperability in ASEAN
The Asian Transport Observatory (ATO) presented at the Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on the Development of A Strategic Plan on Enhancing Rail Interoperability in ASEAN between February 25-26, 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia, organized by ASEAN, in cooperation with ESCAP. The ATO presented on the state of play of railways in the ASEAN region. The project intends to enhance regional cooperation among ASEAN Member States to strengthen railway transport through the development of a Strategic Plan on Enhancing Rail Interoperability among ASEAN Member States and undertaking related capacity building activities.
The meeting was attended by distinguished representatives of ASEAN Member States, as well as experts from the Organization for Cooperation Between Railways (OSJD), Intergovernmental Organization for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF), International Union of Railways (UIC), and the ATO.
