ATO and IRF's Green Roads Profiles Featured in the 61st Edition of the World Road Statistics 2024

This week, the International Road Federation (IRF) and its partners to celebrate the release of the 61st Edition of the IRF World Road Statistics (WRS), which also feature the "Green Roads Profiles" co-developed by the ATO and the IRF to highlight indicators on:

  • Road Vehicles and Infrastructure: current technologies and infrastructural practices, spotlighting areas for improvement and innovation to enhance sustainability.
  • Quality of Life and Inclusive Growth Indicators related to Road Transport: road transport impacts on public health, safety, and overall community well-being, offering insights into social sustainability.
  • Decarbonization and Climate Resilience: emission metrics and resilience strategies necessary to mitigate climate change impacts specific to the road sector.
  • Other Environmental: broad range of ecological metrics, such as biodiversity impacts, noise pollution, and water quality effects, rounding out the environmental assessment.

The 61st edition of the WRS was launched during a special session held last October 15, 2024 which also featured ATO. Michael Anyala, Senior Transport Specialist at the Asian Development Bank, delivered the presentation on ATO which he deems as "a valuable resource for policymakers, researchers, and planners working towards a more sustainable and efficient transport system in Asia."
