The Asian Transport Observatory (ATO) has released updated Transport and Climate Change Profiles for countries across Asia and the Pacific, incorporating the latest transport emissions estimates from the European Commission Joint Research Centre (EC JRC) and International Energy Agency (IEA) EDGAR 2026 release, including estimates through 2025.

The updated profiles provide a consolidated evidence base for understanding transport emissions trends, energy consumption, motorization, transport activity, and climate-related policies and targets. They also incorporate updated information on transport finance, trade, and private participation in infrastructure, alongside new indicators that broaden the assessment of transport sector developments.

Updated Data and Enhanced Interactive Features

The profiles bring together key indicators at the intersection of transport and climate change, enabling users to examine historical trends, assess changes in transport systems, and explore the factors shaping emissions trajectories across countries.

The latest release also features interactive visualizations that allow users to explore country-level data, track trends over time, and review relevant policy developments. These enhancements improve the accessibility, transparency, and comparability of transport and climate information.

Beyond emissions and energy data, the profiles summarize national transport-related climate policies, commitments, and targets, including measures contained in broader transport and development policy documents. This provides a more comprehensive picture of how countries are addressing transport decarbonization.
