Asian Transport Observatory (ATO) participated in the first meeting of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) under the ESCAP-led project "Strengthening Capacity of ESCAP Member States to Implement Low Carbon and Resilient Transport Action Plans in Asia and the Pacific (2025–2028)." The project aims to support Fiji, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Tajikistan in developing and implementing low-carbon and climate-resilient transport strategies aligned with NDC 3.0, while addressing technical, institutional, and financing gaps and strengthening regional cooperation.
The TAG brings together national focal points from the target countries and partner organizations, including ESCAP and UNECE, UNFCCC, GIZ, the NDC Partnership, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and ATO. During the meeting, partners shared updates on country engagements, ongoing analytical work, and opportunities for coordinated technical support.
ATO contributed by offering access to its transport and climate datasets, including national and urban transport profiles for all four target countries, and by sharing updates on the development of a Pacific sub-observatory and a prototype tool to assess transport infrastructure exposure to climate hazards. ATO also offered support in addressing identified transport data gaps—particularly for Pakistan and Tajikistan—and highlighted opportunities to align country-level analyses with regional monitoring frameworks and upcoming global processes, including COP30.
