During last week's Asia Pacific Road Safety Conference, APRSO Annual Meeting, and related post-events in Manila, the Asian Transport Observatory (ATO) helped shift the agenda from dialogue to action.

  • At the Asia Pacific Road Safety Observatory (APRSO) Annual Meeting, the ATO presented the Road Safety Country Profiles, illustrating how such can inform decisions and strengthen the Observatory’s dashboard agenda.
  • During the High-level Roundtable on "Enhancing Funding for Safer Road Infrastructure," ATO contributed evidence on the investment case for safety—emphasizing the importance of robust data, evidence-based tools, and the role of multilateral development banks in mobilizing and optimizing finance toward 2030 targets.
  • In the workshop on financing powered two-wheeler (PTW) safety, ATO served on the panel and facilitated the private-sector breakout, helping to map practical pathways for government, private, and development finance institutions to increase overall resource availability and access towards PTW safety.

ATO also contributed to the panel during the first day of the "Safer Helmets in Asia Pacific Initiative" (SHAP Initiative) post-event wherein the ATO brought region-wide insights that connected data to policy actions on 2-wheeler helmets in the Asia-Pacific region.
