The Asian Transport Observatory contributed to the 23rd CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting, held on 8–9 June 2026 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The meeting brought together CAREC countries, development partners, and transport experts to review progress under the CAREC Transport Strategy 2030, discuss priority actions following its midterm review, and identify areas where financial and technical assistance can support regional transport development.

As part of the session on cross-border transport and aviation, the ATO joined the CAREC Institute in presenting on the strategic utilization of the Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring mechanism and the ATO data. The presentation highlighted how regional data systems can support more informed planning, policy dialogue, and investment prioritization across CAREC transport corridors.

The session also showcased how ATO's tools and outputs—such as the Asian Transport 2035 Outlook, Transport Development Finance Explorer, Climate Exposure Dashboard for Transport, Pacific Transport Observatory, and country dashboards for the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport—can help countries and partners translate evidence into action. Through this contribution, ATO reaffirmed its role as a regional evidence platform supporting better transport decisions, stronger collaboration, and more targeted investments across CAREC and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
